“If you can’t take a little bloody nose, maybe you oughtta go back home and crawl under your bed. It’s not safe out here. It’s wondrous, with treasures to satiate desires both subtle and gross; but it’s not for the timid.”

5 THINGS YOU DIDN’T KNOW ABOUT COLLEEN SCHNEIDER
WHAT IS A TYPICAL DAY OF TRAINING LIKE?
I’m up before 6 every morning and start my day working with clients as a personal trainer. In the late morning I’m off to team practice at CSW. In the afternoon I’ll do more specific work, striking, wrestling, or grappling. During fight camp strength training and sprint work get mixed in there a couple times a week as well. If I can fit a nap in, I’ll call that a good day.
WHAT GOT YOU INTO MARTIAL ARTS?
I began training in Karate when I was 10, and in college competed in Taekwondo for UC Berkeley. Shortly after graduating I began training in San Shou and then MMA.
WHAT PROFESSION OTHER THAN YOUR OWN WOULD YOU LIKE TO ATTEMPT AND WHY?
My degree is in Physics and I did my research in astrophysics at UC Berkeley. While ultimately it was MMA that I felt drawn to pursue, I do miss academia. I would totally take on a job smashing up subatomic particles at the Large Hadron Collider and running around the Swiss Alps in my free time.
IF YOU COULD HAVE ANY SUPERPOWER, WHAT WOULD IT BE AND WHY?
To exist outside of the linear temporal dimension.
Outside of the confines of time, you could know the full lifespan of Earth and the growth of our species; see the development and ultimate destruction of the universe.
IF YOU COULD BE ANY FICTIONAL CHARACTER, WHO WOULD YOU CHOOSE AND WHY?
Captain Jean Luc Picard from Star Trek The Next Generation. In the Star Trek universe the better characteristics of humanity have shaped the development of our species, and Picard has the opportunity to be at the forefront of humanities expansion and to experience all kinds of crazy things the universe has to offer. “Make it so.”
